Eliza Jane Dixon writes Paranormal Historical Romance

I liked PENELOPE much better than the critics did. But I'm a sucker for good art direction, a scruffy James McAvoy, and Christina Ricci's wardrobe. I've wanted to write a reverse Beauty & The Beast for a long time. I'm glad someone did it and did it well, too.
Overall, I quite enjoyed PENELOPE. It's a wry grin as opposed to a guffaw, and the little film has provided me with big creative inspiration. I even bought a Wardian Case. (Google it.) And I'm planning on making themed bell jar terrariums like the one above as presents for friends.
Did I say I loved the art direction? And the soundtrack?
:-)
It's FALL, my favorite season, and I'm deeply involved in a top-secret project. It's a young adult series that came to me while I was staring at my day-job computer screen repeating the mantra of, "I hate this job." (I'm not kidding.)
I'm writing and illustrating full-steam ahead. As this series is intended for the 14-17 year old audience and I'm not Matthew Burgess, there is no sex. (But there is sexual tension! What would adolescence be without it?) But I not only can live with that, I'm having lots of fun with other story elements.
Since this project is my first to be born with truly decent commercial bone structure, it will remain top-secret until agented or sold.
On the home front, I've adopted two roadside orphaned kittens. One almost didn't make it, but I'm pleased to announce both kittens are now bouncing around claws extended.
